All selected Head Coaches will receive a refund of their player registration fee after the 2nd week of play. This does not include optional purchases, City of Irvine Facilities Use fee or processing fees.

After Coaches have been identified Head Coaches may select one player that is not attached to a team (selected Head Coaches or Co-Coaches). Doing so will lock in both your selected player and coach’s player as your 1st and 2nd round picks. SoCal Elite will reach out to the parent to verify and we will not be able to share any contact information with you.

Evaluations will stay mostly the same. Discussion of the changes indicated that coaches still wanted to see drills included so we will be making some small changes to make the drill portion a little more informative.

Layups will be moved back to full court consisting of an outlet pass to a coach with a pass back out wide for a full court layup (skill emphasis on catching, dribbling, following direction and simulate a full speed layup).

Mid range jump shot will include running a cut calling for the ball, catching into a reverse pivot followed by a jab step dribbling in mid range jumpshot. (skill emphasis on cutting, catching, seeing if a player knows how to pivot and understands a pivot foot).

Will no longer be required. Most coaches were against having to nominate players and being limited on who they were drafting.

Players who do not attend evaluations (No-Eval) will only be draftable in the first 3 rounds but each coach may only select one No-Eval player in the draft. Random hat picks at the end may still be placed on your team if applicable.

Players’ scoring will be tracked by the scorer’s table. We may ask parents to track their own teams points scored for added accuracy but our table will try to track points as well.

Points will be updated on the coaches portal only at the end of the season. This information will be used to help the following seasons draft competitive teams.

Rookie and Boys 2nd Grade: Volleyball attack line no zone in 1st half

Boys & Girls 3rd/4th Grade: Half Court attack line no zone in 1st half

Boys & Girls 5th/6th Grade: Half Court attack line when in a dead ball situation* no zone in 1st half
*no attack line while ball is play

Example: If the other team scores or a whistle is blown players would have to get back to the half court line until the ball crosses half court.

Goal of this change is to develop better basketball habits

Boys & Girls 7th/8th Grade: Any defense the entire game

Teams will be separated into pools after the 2nd week of play when possible. Brackets will now only be during the last week of games and consist of a single elimination bracket.

After discussion on our proposal to have a core group of players and draft the rest, the majority of coaches were not happy with our changes. As a result we are going back to our previous rule, preformed teams will play in a preformed division or play up a grade. Numbers required are now 8 for both Boys and Girls.

*With the split into pools we will have more flexibility in putting preformed teams in the division they should be in. As an example preformed teams that are competitive with the top half of a division may be placed in the higher pool whereas preformed teams that struggle may be placed in the bottom pool or potentially the higher pool of their own grade. These changes would be identified after the 2nd week of play.
