June 12th marks the end of the 2022 Spring League.

Important – not all teams have a game and their season may have ended June 5th. If your team is not on the schedule they do not have a game this weekend.

This doesn’t mean your division was not competitive – just that your division had clearly defined standings. The top two seeds have been paired up against each other and will be playing for the division championship. Everyone else will simply have the strongest matchup based on season performance.

Week 5 – Schedule for June 5th and June 12th

Thank you for a great season. As the season winds down we looked at the standings and quite a few divisions were incredibly competitive. To ensure the highest competition some divisions have bracket play and some are matchup games.

Overview of Dates: Reminder that not all teams will be playing on both dates
May 29th (Memorial Day Weekend): No Games
June 5th: Week 5 – Sunday games
June 12th: Week 6 – Sunday games

Bracket Play
For those of you with bracket play we built them out a little differently this season. As we only anticipated having 6 games, there is no double elimination. Instead only the winning teams will move on.
Girls 5th/6th and Girls 7th/8th are the exceptions with the middle seeds playing to determine who plays the top seed and who plays the bottom seed.

How to view your brackets on mobile: At the bottom of the schedule is a section labeled Brackets. There is a small black box to click on to expand it to full screen above the standings section. For Boys 3rd there is also a B bracket so you can select your bracket in the drop down menu above the red circle.

Week 4 – Memorial Day Weekend and the Remainder of the Season

We wanted to reach out with a few updates regarding the remainder of the 2022 Spring League.

May 22nd: Games take place as normal.
May 29th: No games – Memorial Day Weekend

Remainder of the season
Per the calendar of events the Spring League officially ends on June 12th. We will be working on the schedule after games take place on the 22nd and will have it published by Thursday May 26th.

Rookie League (K-2nd): Games will take place as normal on June 5th and June 12th.

Youth League (3rd-8th): We are building custom matchups so that teams can have as competitive a game as possible. Teams will play on either June 5th OR June 12th to end the season. There are no schedule requests.

Week 3 – Navigating the Schedule

With double headers taking place May 15th or May 22nd, we wanted to reach out with a simple way to navigate the schedule.

At the top above all divisions is a Teams – Search – bar. You can search your team by selecting from the list and clicking on the blue button on the right.

To narrow the team selection down even more simply select your division and then find your team from the drop down list. In the below screenshot we clicked on Boys 6th and then Teams – Search – bar.

By clicking on the blue button after selecting your team it will filter out all other teams letting you find all of your games at a glance

Week 3 – Schedule Change

The schedule for this coming Sunday has changed for quite a few teams. The school district canceled our use at Irvine HS and we had to make adjustments to the schedule. Please make sure to double check your game times as the schedule was updated at various locations.

Youth League Only
Games – Most teams have double headers either May 15th or May 22nd.

Jersey Update: All players are required to wear a SoCal Elite black and white jersey to each of their games. If your child does not have a SoCal Elite Jersey they will not be able to play starting week 3 May 15th

Good Sportsmanship and Mercy Rules – Mercy rule will go into effect if a team has a lead of 15 or more and remain in effect until the difference is 10 or less. If your team finds yourself in this situation we ask that you use the opportunity to slow the game down and back off from fast breaks if possible. If the score is very one sided please consider backing off the defensive pressure and letting the opposing team get in some good touches and take some shots.

Week 3 – Mother’s Day and the Month of May

IMPORTANT – As a reminder parent coaches are volunteers. Please be respectful of your coaches time and make sure to pick up your child on time from practices.We highly encourage parents to stay for the duration of the practice but it is unfair for coaches to wait for parents to pick up their child.

Rookie League Only
Volunteers – Parent Coaches are volunteers. As a reminder we do not expect coaches to hold any outside practice. Rookie League has 1.5 hour time slots consisting of a practice/clinic led by SoCal Elite Staff followed by a game. If you would like to help manage the team please talk to your coach.

Rookie Divisions – Team Formation and Schedule

We are currently building teams for the Rookie League and working on the schedule. You can find the calendar of events on our website: https://socalelite.org/leagues/spring/#calendar

Team Formation and schedule are set to be published April 22nd. Team formation will be done in TeamSnap – when logging in your child will go from Division – Registered (ex Girls 2nd – Registered) to a a team (ex G201 – Smith).

There are no more special requests at this point. If you did not make a buddy request or wish to change buddy requests we will no longer be able to accommodate your request.

Opening Day April 24th
Rookie League will typically take place within the following times.
A. 11:00a – 12:30p
B. 12:30p – 2:00p
C. 2:00p – 3:30p

Each time slot is 1.5 hours with a 30 min practice/clinic followed by a 40 min game. There are no schedule requests. Each child must wear a SoCal Elite Jersey and bring their own basketball.

Makeup Jersey Pickup – Details will be released by Thursday April 21st

You are receiving this email because your child is registered in the Rookie League (K-2nd). Rookie League players do not have Evaluations.

Players that purchased a jersey or any optional apparel may pickup at the Youth League (3rd-8th) Evaluations. You can find what you purchased in your TeamSnap profile. If you did not purchase anything please do not attend. It is strongly encouraged that you bring your child to ensure the correct size.

Preseason Email 2 – Player Evaluations

Youth Players (3rd-8th Grade)

Please note that evaluations are for Youth League Players only (3rd-8th). When checking in players will receive an ID number, please make sure to put this on the front as players will have their pictures taken in front of a height chart. Players should wear athletic attire. Please do not bring a basketball.

**3rd Grade Only was split into two different arrival times. This is only to space out arrivals. You can find your group in TeamSnap.**

Parent Volunteers (3rd-8th Grade)
Head Coaches and Co-Coaches are asked to attend evaluations for the entire division. Please bring paper and something to write on to take notes. We will reach out to Head Coaches that are selected before evaluations, Co-Coaches will be paired up over the weekend. As a reminder there are no coaching requests.

Rookie Players (K–2nd Grade): No Evals

Optional Jersey and apparel pickup will take place between 11:00a -1:00p. It is strongly encouraged that parents bring their child to ensure the sizes are correct.
