Leagues

Hello Parents,

This upcoming Saturday, September 16th is Week 2. Similar to Week 1 our coaching staff will be running a clinic for each division with the help of our volunteers and progressing on what was covered last week. We will introduce and work on serve receive this upcoming Saturday.

Here is a reminder of our league format:

Each week there will be a two-hour session for players to get an opportunity to practice and play scrimmages/games. Practices will be run by our volleyball coaching staff and assisted by our Parent Volunteer Coaches. Depending on the division’s volleyball ability, there might be modifications to the games to provide the best experience (serve from anywhere on the court, coach initiated ball, height of net, etc.). Records will not be kept. Please expect for practices to be longer at the beginning of the league (weeks 1-3) as we want to make sure players have a basic understanding of how to play the game based on the system that we teach. As the league goes on, more time will be designated to play. The full duration of Week 7 (last week) will be designated to play where it will be structured like a mini tournament with a 4 team pool.

Apparel/Ordered Items Pick-up and/or Exchanges: Several parents and players had questions about picking up their t-shirt and ordered apparel this past Saturday. If possible, please come to our office to pick up your t-shirt.

Address: 12 Mauchly Ste P Irvine 92618

Hours: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Please mention you are participating in the 2023 Spring Volleyball League. *If our hours do not work for you please email us so we can arrange a different method for you to receive your apparel. Please do not assume our coaching staff will bring it for you each week of play.

Hello Parents,

As a reminder, Week 1 of our 2023 Fall Volleyball League starts this Saturday, September 9th. Please review all of the information listed below.

Team Rosters: Teams have been built, https://socalelite.org/volleyball/teams/ (Search player’s name under appropriate division). If you are a parent who volunteered to coach, please make a note of which team you are assigned to. If your child did not attend Evaluations, they were placed on a team randomly.

Schedule: The schedule for the season has been published on our teams page and posted on TeamSnap. If you have not done so already, please check what team your child is on and what time their session starts. You can locate this information here, https://socalelite.org/volleyball/teams/ (Search player’s name under appropriate division). Please note we did not get our gym use approved for October 14th which is why there is a bye week between Week 5 and 6.

Communication/Updates: Please check your email weekly for any updates or potential location/schedule change. You can always refer to our updates page here, https://socalelite.org/volleyball/updates/#leagues

Throughout the season, all players will get an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of volleyball (passing, setting, hitting, and serving) and work on developing their  motor skills. Our goal as a recreational league is to provide a welcoming and fun environment to facilitate the best learning experience for all of our players. Please have your player wear their white SoCal Elite Volleyball t-shirt each week of the league. Outside of the t-shirt, we encourage all of our players to wear comfortable athletic apparel (bottoms and shoes). Other optional apparel would be knee pads or forearm sleeves (No jeans, skirts, and sandals/slippers). You will not need to bring your own volleyball as we will be providing them.

Academy

This is a notice that the New Horizon Upper School will be having two home volleyball matches that are being played close to our beginner volleyball academy start time this upcoming Monday, Sept 25th. If the New Horizon volleyball games end on time, all academies will start at their usual times. With the off chance the games go over, please make a note that all academies will be delayed for that day. For example, the New Horizon volleyball games go over 10 mins, all classes will start and end 10 mins later. Hopefully if there is a delay, it is no more than 10-15 mins. I will be there early to monitor how the games are going. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me.

Hello Parents,

As I mentioned last week, we have updated our volleyball academy classes to have three distinct classes. All players have been moved to their appropriate classes. Please double check your TeamUp accounts so your child attends the correct practice time this Friday, September 8th and moving forward.
