Have an amazing holiday week! We will see everyone on Sunday!

Hello Parents,

Thank you to those that attended this past Sunday’s Player Evaluation/Introduction to Skills! As a reminder, Week 1 of our 2024 Summer Volleyball League starts this Sunday, June 30th. All divisions will be playing from 1:00PM to 3:00PM at Beckman High School. With Beckman High School providing air conditioning, we hope to provide our families and players a more enjoyable experience with the rising summer temperatures. The 4th-6th grade division will be on the two main courts (1 & 2) while the 7th-9th grade division will be playing in the auxiliary gym on court 3. Staff will be present to help players find their courts.

Please review all of the information listed below:

Team Rosters: Teams have been built, https://socalelite.org/volleyball/teams/ (Search player’s name under appropriate division). If you are a parent who volunteered to coach, please make a note of which team you are assigned to. If your child did not attend Evaluations, they were placed on a team randomly.

Communication/Updates: Please check your email weekly for any updates or potential location/schedule change. You can always refer to our updates page here, https://socalelite.org/volleyball/updates/#leagues

Check-In/Attendance: Players will be checked in by our staff during the duration of the league. Parents do not need to update players’ availability each Sunday. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact us.

League Scrimmages: Each week there will be a two-hour session for players to get an opportunity to practice and play scrimmages/games. Practices will be run by our volleyball coaching staff and assisted by our Parent Volunteer Coaches. Depending on the division’s volleyball ability, there might be modifications to the games to provide the best experience (serve from anywhere on the court, coach initiated ball, height of net, etc.). Records will not be kept. Please expect for practices to be longer at the beginning of the league (weeks 1-3) as we want to make sure players have a basic understanding of how to play the game based on the system that we teach. As the league goes on, more time will be designated to play. The full duration of Week 5 (last week) will be designated to play.

Throughout the season, all players will get an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of volleyball (passing, setting, hitting, and serving) and work on developing their  motor skills. Our goal as a recreational league is to provide a welcoming and fun environment to facilitate the best learning experience for all of our players. Please have your player wear their white SoCal Elite Volleyball t-shirt each week of the league. Outside of the t-shirt, we encourage all of our players to wear comfortable athletic apparel (bottoms and shoes). Other optional apparel would be knee pads or forearm sleeves (No jeans, skirts, and sandals/slippers). You will not need to bring your own volleyball as we will be providing them.

Apparel/Ordered Items Pick-up: For players that have not yet received their SoCal Volleyball t-shirt/ordered items, please come by our office during our operating hours.

Address: 12 Mauchly Ste P Irvine 92618

Hours: 10:30 AM – 3:00 PM

Days: Tuesday through Friday

Simply ring the doorbell at the front door and a staff member will assist you. Please mention you are participating in the 2024 Summer Volleyball League. If our hours do not work for you please email us so we can arrange a different method for you to receive your apparel.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Hi Parents,

This upcoming Sunday, we will be hosting our Player Evaluations/Intro to Skills for our 2024 Summer Volleyball League.

Date: Sunday, June 23rd

Location: Irvine High School Practice Gym

Address: 4321 Walnut Ave, Irvine, CA 92604

Please review our preseason page for details on specific times for each grade level and all ordered apparel: https://socalelite.org/volleyball/preseason/

The players info/list (filtered by first name) can be found before information about evaluation. If you feel like there is an error either in name, grade, or gender please contact us so we can address your issues before arriving at evaluations. This will streamline the check in process. Grade should reflect the “2023-2024 School Year.”

Evaluations/Intro to Skills will be conducted by grade level:

4th-6th grade: 12:00PM to 1:30PM on Court 1 & 2

7th-9th grade: 12:00PM to 1:30PM on Court 3

Please plan to arrive 15 mins before your child’s start time as we need to get each player their “Evaluation ID Tag.” Dynamic warm-up will start promptly at 12:00PM. Within the 1.5 hour evaluation, players will be introduced to foundations in passing, setting, hitting, serving, and team systems.

Throughout the season we will be sending out emails. You can find all of our most recent updates posted on our website under League: https://socalelite.org/volleyball/updates/#leagues

Following Evaluations, we hope to be playing each week of the season from 1:00PM to 3:00PM on Sundays.

Hello Parents,

Thank you for registering for our 2024 Summer Volleyball League! We are just over a week away from our Player Evaluations/Intro to Skills. Here are some quick updates before our start date.

We will have Player Evaluations on Sunday, June 23rd, 2024. During Evaluations, our coaching staff will be introducing basic fundamentals in passing, setting, hitting, serving, and team systems. This gives our coaches an opportunity to observe each player’s volleyball ability and knowledge before teams are formed by Week 1 of practice/scrimmages. Teams will be formed by our coaches to provide a competitive and fun experience for all. Players will have a designated hour and a half  time slot to get evaluated by our coaches. Please make sure the grade and gender of your child is correct on TeamSnap.

More information about Evaluations will be sent closer to the date with times and location. We are still awaiting gym permits/approvals. All divisions will be able to pick up their ordered items and t-shirt at Evaluations. Those who volunteered to be Evaluation Coordinators or Volunteer Coaches will be contacted separately on how you will be helping out during the league.

Following Evaluations, The League will run for 5 weeks from June 30th-July 28th on Sundays. Please review our calendar of events, https://socalelite.org/volleyball/summer/#about. Each week players will get an opportunity to practice and play scrimmages/games. Practices will be run by our volleyball coaching staff and assisted by our Parent Volunteer Coaches.

League Scrimmages: After practice is over, it is immediately followed by teams playing scrimmages/games. Depending on the division’s volleyball ability, there might be modifications to the games to provide the best experience (serve from anywhere on the court, coach initiated ball, allow a bounce, height of net, more than three contacts, etc.). Records will not be kept. Please expect for practices to be longer at the beginning of the league (weeks 1-2) as we want to make sure players have a greater understanding of how to play the game. As the league progresses, more time will be designated to play. The full duration of Week 5 (last week) will be designated to play.

Teams: Teams will be formed following Evaluations by our coaching staff to provide the best and competitive experience for all players. Teams can be Co-Ed and formed by dispersing talent as evenly as possible to ensure fairness – they are not limited by the number of boys or girls on each team. Depending on the number of players in your division, we may adopt a “drop-in” format where new teams will be formed each week of the league.

Location: Like mentioned above, we are still waiting for our gym permits/approval from the City and District. We typically utilize the following locations: Irvine High School, University High School, Northwood High School, and Portola High School.

Schedule: Our schedule for the whole season will be sent out after teams are formed. Practice/Game times will be dependent on the number of players in a division and gym availability. Please expect your practice/game time to be played within the time slot of 10AM to 4PM on Sundays during the 5 week league.

Hello Parents,

We recently received a notice from Orchard Hills School that there will be 2 school events coming up in our next two sessions on Tuesday, May 14th (tomorrow) and Tuesday, May 21st. We will still be able to host all of our volleyball academy sessions, however, the school has asked us to please park on the blacktop behind the gym. Drop-off will still be allowed and should not interfere with the parking situation. For both of these school events, the school’s parents/students have priority with spots located in the parking lot.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding!
