2) GAMES: Played on a half court.
- There are no timeouts. Games are twelve (12) minutes long.
- Jump ball at the “in-bounds line” to start the game (volleyball line).
- Must clear 3-point line on every change of possession (one foot over).
- If you don’t clear the 3-point line and shoot; ball out of bounds to other team.
- Possession alternates after each made basket (Loser’s outs).
- All dead balls and possession changes after a made basket will be taken out of bounds at the top. Ball must be taken out above the “in-bounds line,: or it is considered an “invalid inbounding of the ball.”
- For HS and older, it is considered a turnover and ball to defensive team. For 8th grade & younger, get one re-do. 2nd time is a turnover.
- Players inbounding the ball may pass or dribble in.
3) SUBSTITUTIONS
- Substitutions may be made at any dead ball and after any made basket.
- Players must enter and exit the game from underneath the basket on their team side.
- No substitutions in the last 30 seconds of the game unless for injured player.
- Violation of last 30 sec. substitution rule: one point AND the ball to the other team.
4) SCORING: Two points per basket inside the 3-point arc; three points for baskets beyond the 3-point arc.
5) WINNING OF GAME (Team leading after 12 minutes or first team to reach 21 points)
In the result of a tie at end of play the next point wins. (Note: If a defensive foul is committed, the offensive team is rewarded one (1) point and the game immediately ends.)
SHOOTING FOULS:
Missed Basket: Awarded the basket (two or three points depending on the shot attempted). Ball to defensive team.
Made Basket: Basket plus one point. Ball to defensive team.
Ex: Two-point shot made plus one point = 3 points. Ball to defensive team.
Ex: Three-point shot made plus one point = 4 points. Ball to defensive team.
NON-SHOOTING FOULS:
Defensive Foul:
– Non-shooting foul: Ball out of bounds until the two-minute mark of the game.
– After the two-minute mark, the ball will change possession and one (1) point is awarded.
Offensive Foul: Change of possession. (No points, even in bonus time)
Loose Ball Fouls do not reward points – even in final two minutes – but result in a change of possession.
6) UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT OR TAUNTING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED = TECHNICAL FOULS
It is the discretion of the coaches and/or SoCal Elite Staff to assess technical fouls (three points and ball to same team) for taunting, flagrant fouls or any form of unsportsmanlike conduct (e.g., excessive fouling, intentional delay of game). Any player or coach receiving two technical fouls in a game is suspended for a minimum of one game and may be suspended for the remainder of the tournament upon further review.
