Happy New Year and Thank you for registering for our 2026 Winter Drop- In League! We are just two weekends away from the start of the season! Here are some quick updates before our start date:

 

Schedule: A Preseason Skills Clinic/Player Evaluation will take the place of Week 1 on January 18th. We will be adding a week of play on Sunday, February 22nd. Details on Time/Location for the whole season will be sent out the week after Evaluations. Practice/Game times will be dependent on the number of players in a division and gym availability. We expect to follow a consistent schedule with time and locations remaining the same each week of the season (Expect 11:00AM to 1:00PM for 5th-6th grade and 1:00PM to 3:00PM for 7th-8th grade at Northwood High School Main Gym).

 

New Calendar of Events for Winter Drop-In League:

Sun, Jan. 18th: Preseason Skills Clinic/Player Evaluation*

Sun, Jan. 25th: Week 1 – Practice/matches

Sun, Feb. 1st: Week 2 – Practice/matches

Sun, Feb. 8th: Week 3 – Practice/matches

Sun, Feb. 15th: Week 4 – Practice/matches

Sun, Feb. 22nd: Week 5 – Practice/matches*

 

During the Preseason Skills Clinic/Player Evaluation, our coaching staff will be introducing basic fundamentals in passing, setting, hitting, serving, and team systems. This gives our coaches an opportunity to observe each player’s volleyball ability and knowledge before Week 1 teams are formed. Teams will be formed and maybe shuffled each week by our coaches to provide a competitive and fun experience for all. Players will have a designated 2 hour time slot to get evaluated by our coaches based on grade level. Please make sure the grade and gender of your child is correct on TeamSnap.

 

Preseason Skills Clinic/Player Evaluation, January 18th

Location: Northwood High School

5th – 6th Graders; 11:00AM to 1:00PM

7th – 9th Graders; 1:00PM to 3:00PM

 

Following Evaluations, The Drop-In League will run for 5 weeks from Jan 25th through Feb 22nd  on Sundays. Each week players will get an opportunity to practice and play scrimmages/games. Practices and games will be run/coached by our volleyball staff. 

 

Drop-In Games: After practice has concluded, it is immediately followed by teams playing scrimmages/games. Depending on the division’s volleyball ability, there might be modifications to the games to provide the best experience (serve within the court, coach initiated ball, height of net, etc.). Records will not be kept. Please expect for practices to be longer at the beginning of the league (weeks 1-2) as we want to make sure players have a greater understanding of how to play the game. As the league progresses, more time will be designated to play. The full duration of Week 5 will be designated to play scrimmages/games. 

 

Teams: Teams will be formed following Evaluations by our coaching staff to provide the best and competitive experience for all players. Teams can be Co-Ed and formed by dispersing talent as evenly as possible to ensure fairness – they are not limited by the number of boys or girls on each team. We will be following a drop-in format where teams may be reshuffled each week. This format is something we wanted to trial out this season.

 

Location: We are expecting to be using Northwood High School as our site for the duration of the Winter Drop-In League.
